RACV Pre-1905 Pioneers Run - 2026 Wentworth
Wednesday September 23 to Saturday September 26 2026.We warmly invite you to join us for the extraordinary 2026 RACV Pre-1905 Pioneers Run. An event proudly presented by the The Veteran Car Club of Australia (Vic) and sponsored by the RACV. The Paul Butler Trust and the Wentworth Shire Council are also supporters of the event.
This is a unique opportunity for owners of vehicles built prior to 1905 to drive and showcase their treasured machines in the stunning setting of Wentworth and surrounds, where the Darling and the majestic Murray rivers meet.
Join us for an unforgettable four days that will immerse you in the history of pioneer motoring as we travel along mostly flat roads to captivating destinations, ensuring a comfortable and enjoyable experience for everyone. Each day offers a leisurely round trip of less than 60 km, making this the ideal opportunity to relive the golden age of motoring. Seize this chance to be part of a truly remarkable celebration of automotive history and create memories that will last a lifetime.
If you don’t have a pre-05 but wish to experience this kind of event, you are welcome to join us as an observer. Vivian and I would be delighted to have you participate in what is sure to be a memorable rally.
Entries for this event will open in early June 2026. However, you can keep informed of any rally updates by registering an Expression of Interest via the link below.

The Itinerary (subject to change and possible devious collusion)
Wednesday September 23 The fun starts with registration and a shakedown run to Perry Sandhills. This will be followed by a welcome function at the Tourist Information Centre.
Thursday September 24 We’ll make our way to Merbein, where entrants will have the opportunity to learn how billabongs are formed and visit a lookout (rest assured there is no hill to climb). After enjoying a meal at Club Merbein, we will visit a museum and a salt lake on the way home. While we have plans for Thursday evening we are keeping details under wraps to maintain an element of surprise.
Friday September 25 Our itinerary includes a trip to the Inland Botanic Gardens where we’ll have lunch and a “train ride”. This will be followed by afternoon tea at the historic Coomealla Packing Shed. Dinner that evening is in the Function room at the Crown Hotel.
Saturday September 26 We will explore Wentworth itself. The day begins with a public display at a local park. Don’t worry – you won’t be just standing around as there is the Old Wentworth Gaol and the Pioneers’ Museum to explore and a barbeque lunch to enjoy. The afternoon features a drive to McKenzie’s Garage, Junction Island, River Junction Park and Lock 10. That evening dinner will be at the Lock 10 Restaurant which will opening exclusively for us.
